The 2016 Patriota is a blend of 60% Malbec and 40% Bonarda from La Consulta in the Valle de Uco. It fermented in stainless steel and concrete vats and matured in used oak barrels (60% French, 40% American) for 11 months. It’s juicy, with density and a little less oak than in the past. But the tannins are still noticeable, which adds to the rusticity of the Bonarda. In this peculiar vintage, the Bonarda was put in stainless steel, aiming at the texture it provides. 72,000 bottles produced. There were two bottlings, one in December 2017 and one in May 2018.
