Bright gold color with sweet, floral aromatics alongside some fresh herbs, vanilla, and honey. A light, firm yet rounded body. Strong malt character with hints of woodsmoke and sandalwood. A malt-driven dram with light smoke and some sweetness on the finish.
Appearance: Gold. Nose: A complex of sweet floral fragrances, riverside herbs and flowers with some honey and vanilla. Body: Firm, rounded, light to medium. Palate: A strong malty taste with hints of sweet wood smoke and sandalwood. Finish: A long malt-driven finish with light smoke and hints of sweetness.
Matured in refill American oak casks that previously held peated whisky, this 2006 distillate presents a nose of cider, heather, ginger, malt, hints of nutmeg, and peat. Ripe red apples on the palate, with honey, vanilla fudge, and a faint background wisp of smoke. Relatively long in the finish, with that light smoke persisting alongside black pepper, oak, and now unripe apples.
The succulent aroma develops with aeration in the sweet forms of barley, cream, light caramel, and a trace of tropical fruit. Palate entry is round, borderline plump, breakfast-cereal sweet, and honeyed; at midpalate, there's a slightly oily peat smoke. Sweetly concludes with the focus on the malt.
